My name is Louis van der Voort. I have been a teacher for over 20 years. I started as a philosophy teacher at a secondary school and in adult education. I have now taught Dutch as a second language for more than 12 years, both privately and to groups in various language schools. Without a doubt, I’ve been teaching for this long because I always find the contact with students from a wide range of countries agreeable and inspiring. I am patient and always try to ensure a positive atmosphere in my classes. This is to everyone’s benefit and keeps learners motivated. In class, I aim for a balance between giving explanations and encouraging language exchange between students. In my spare time I listen to music, especially (modern) classical music, and I like to read. In order to stay in shape I swim laps at an Amsterdam swimming pool every week.
