Mathilde Broeks

Hi! My name is Mathilde. In 2011 I graduated in law from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. How does a lawyer end up in NT2 education? As long as I can remember I’m fond of language jokes and writing stories. Next to my law school I had a part-time job as an NT2 tutor and I volunteered with refugees. At some point I decided to say goodbye to my legal-editorial work and commit myself fully to language teaching. I finished the NT2 Teacher Education at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, after which I started teaching Dutch courses.
My ideal class situation is brimming with lingual humour, fantasy and creativity. How great is it if students are having fun and realise: Hey, learning Dutch is not boring, it’s supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! By the way, I don’t exclusively like the Dutch language. Singing, dancing and bicycle racing make me very happy too.
